MySpace Backgrounds

Wednesday 4 April 2012

In this week 2 was more interesting because i used to get more information about Information Technology.

Definition:
Any computer-based tool that people used to work with information and to support the information and information-processing needs of an organisation.

however there were many more to know about Information Technology Artitecture:

Information technology architecture:
Ø  A high level map or plan of the information assets in an organisation.
Ø  Integrates entire organisation’s business needs for information, infrastructure and applications.
Information technology infrastructure:
Ø  The physical facilities, IT components, IT services, and IT personnel that support an entire organisation.
Ø  IT components: computer hardware, software, and communications technologies.
Ø  IT services: Data management, systems development and security management.

Also the Lecturer explained about:

                The global web-based platform

The global, Web-based platform that has recently emerged spans the world and is best represented by the Internet functionality.
The platform enables individuals to connect, compute and communicate.
This platform makes globalization possible.
Globalization is the integration and interdependence of economic, social, culture, and ecological facets of life, enable by rapid advances of IT.

however there were many stuff included to know and that is:
The Stages of Globalization
(From Thomas Friedman in The World is Flat)
       Globalization 1.0 (from 1492 to 1800)
       Globalization 2.0 (from 1800 to 2000)
Globalization 3.0 (from 2000 to the present)
I use to get knowing more about this topic by focusing my Lecturer instruction:
-          In the second half of the era, globalization was driven by falling telecommunication costs resulting from the telegraph, telephones, computers, satellites, fiber-optic cable, and the Internet and World Wide Web.
-          The global economy began appearing during this era.
Also here are included the three (3) types of Globalization:

        Globalization 1.0
        Globalization 2.0

        Globalization 3.0
*
-          Around the year 2000, we entered Globalization 3.0, which was driven by the convergence of ten forces that Friedman calls “flatteners”.
-          In era 3.0, the global, Web-based platform has emerged.

In this week we also talked about:
The Great Convergence
We are in a convergence of three powerful, technological forces:
(1) Cheap and ubiquitous computing devices
  (2) Low-cost, high bandwidth
  (3) Open standards
In essence, we have computing everywhere and anywhere, anytime and all the time, with access to limitless amounts of information, services, and entertainment.
We also did a group Discussion about How IT architecture and IT infrastructure are interrelated?
In a form a group of 4 members and the duration was about 10 minutes discussion.
So, we did the discussion with our group members and we finished the task given by Lecturer. In week two i reflected a lot by getting a lot of information related to the course and now i am able to know more about Information Technology.
